DARPA invests in a system similar to Avatar

DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) is trying to bring some cinematic technologies to life. It was announced that the agency would be investing $7 million (from a $2.8 billion fund it owns) to create an avatars control system (similar to that seen in the James Cameron film, which hit few years ago) .

The objectives of the project? Military, of course. It is expected that, in some years, the researches have developed algorithms and own interfaces to enable the remote control of bipedal and semiautonomous machines. The intention is really to create substitutes for soldiers on battlefields. Among their main roles, they must be entered into conflict zones and injured ransoms.
