A group of prisoners from the Montmédy complex in northeastern France clandestinely recorded and posted on the Youtube portal a video of the popular song “Harlem Shake”, the digital edition of the newspaper “Est Republicain” said on Tuesday.

The clip, which was recorded illegally by detainees via cell phones, lasts 43 seconds and begins with one of the prisoners dressed in black and wearing a hood over their heads, dancing effusively in one of the prison galleries.

In the next shot, 12 prisoners are added to the ball, also with their faces covered and moving to the rhythm of the song that caused a furor on the internet a few months ago.

Prison authorities have opened an investigation to determine the responsibility of prisoners and guards in a prison where 320 inmates are guarded by 75 prisoners.
