Updated: Oracle announced on Friday (12/20/2013) the acquisition of Responsys, an American company specializing in the development of software for working with relationship marketing. The company, based in California, was acquired by the giant for $1.5 billion in a deal that was finalized in early 2014.
According to an official statement, Responsys’ tools are now integrating the Oracle Marketing Cloud, the company’s range of cloud tools. The shares were acquired for US $ 27 each, a value 38% higher than that registered at the closing of the trading session on Thursday (12/13/2013). At the moment, stocks are up 38.7%, a growth that reflects the news.
Offering services and applications in the cloud is one of Oracle’s major foci to stay ahead of the software market. Buying smaller companies with interesting solutions is one of the ways CEO Larry Ellison sees to drive business and ensure the best for customers.
