2012 version of LG’s remote control recognizes voice and even hand made gestures

The time has passed when the remotes were just accessories full of buttons that made navigation between TV channels possible. LG, for example, innovated by introducing Magic Motion Remote Control, which works by pointing the peripheral to the part of the screen you want to select, as if it were a Wii controller.

The company announced on Monday (19) the release of the 2012 version of the control, which is even more “magical” than the previous one and is compatible with the Smart TVs of the Cinema 3D line. Now, Magic Motion has voice recognition (to perform commands or form texts on screen), a scroll wheel (like the mouse wheel), an automatic two-to-three-dimensional conversion button.

But the most incredible novelty is a system of “magic gestures”, which should allow the performance of functions from simple movements. LG did not specify this function, but gave a small example: just make the “V” signal with the control and one of the hands to open the most visited videos section of the device.

In addition, the design is more simplified, curved and ergonomic, so that the consumer is not uncomfortable to hold the control in the hand for a long time. The launch is scheduled for the early months of 2012 – which increases the chances of the product appearing for the first time at CES, which takes place in January.
