A Russian cosmonaut has infected the country’s International Space Station (ISS) system after mistakenly placing a USB device with an unknown virus on computers, according to information published by the Daily Mail. The ISS orbits 355 kilometers from Earth and suffers from new viruses from time to time, according to the publication.
The Daily Mail: Russian security expert ( Eugene Kaspersky ), said that some astronauts used the USB device in infected Windows programs and when it came back to the spacecraft it spread the problem quickly to all computers. According to the expert, the characteristics of the unknown virus are similar to those that attacked a Russian nuclear power plant and damaged the internal infrastructure in 2010. The Russian government did not disclose what problems the virus caused to the ISS and its occupants.
