Researchers at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the United States, announced this week the discovery that the human body is programmed to destroy itself in extreme situations. The explanation is in the process of protein synthesis.

The RNA Messenger  is responsible for bringing the information from DNA to turn them into proteins. According to scientists, in some cases RNA can stop the process, failing to bring this information forward, which causes the cells do not reproduce or regenerate.

The research focused on two genes, SWI5 and CLB2, which encode proteins and help regulate cell division cycle, when there is duplication of genetic material for further distribution of it between the two daughter cells.

If it is possible to identify and control the way the RNA Messenger reacts, the expectations of medical therapies is to propose regulation of uncontrolled cell division that characterizes cancer. The study is still ongoing and there is expected to be completed.
